Ration Card in Chennai

Dear Sister,

To get a ration card in Chennai, you need to a take a deletion certificate from the respective palaces where your names are existing, namely Trichy & Tanjore, but before you decide to take the deletion, you must finalise your place of stay in Chennai, as you have to mention the division in the deletion where you are transferring the card.

Chennai is divided into different divisons with respect to Civil supplies, it can be ascertained according to your place of residence and nearest ration shop in your locality.

These days you have different colour cards denoting the status of the applicant, and people decide on just the identity one (white) as we dont have to procure any items and hence there is no botheration of getting lapsed if you have not bought items in the past month or so. However you can decide the same on your income status

Once the above are decided, there is a form available at the civil supplies office in which you have complete the details, along with the deletion certificates of both, you must attach proof of Identity (Xerox) and proof of address (Xerox) for both and one photograph of the head of the family.

Just for your information, they dont accept handwritten or typed application and form in the civil supplies office only should be used. Please keep a copy of all what you are submitting, as you know the status of our government staff. Losing papers/documents is an all time possibility.

Once all this is ready, you must visit the office, quite early say 9.30am to avoid queue and get an acknowledgement slip for having submitted your application for a NEW RATION CARD, keep it safe as it has an acknowledgement which is very important till you receive your card.

After this there will be a personal verification done at your place of residence probably ir should happen within one week of submission and they take next 60 days for the new card to be printed

The time duartion mentioned is what should happen in general but it is the staff pleasure and will and the intervening holidays should all be taken into account.

If you both will not be living in your house, I guess you have leased it out? then how would you prove that you are living there when somebody else is living when the physical verification happens from the civil supplies office, alternately

1. Wait till you come and settle in your house, till then please dont delete your names from the parent ration card

2. If for some purpose you need the card urgent, add your spouse's name in your mom's card and tell that your husband also lives there, later when you shift to your own home, detach both your names and create a separate/New Card at your residence.

If it is your DH's friend staying there then probably he can tell that you are living there and you have just gone to your mom's place, see that you will be able to produce address proof of your home while submitting the application, I hope I am clear now the choice is yours....

Just after elections one round of addition/deletion/change of address in the card has been done and looks like after a year they are going to "SMART CARDS" however if you have come on a transfer then they will surely honour your request.

 

yes sai.. i did all.. but i inquired directly they told me now we stopped next year only start to issue..
