    Dear ILites,

Sometime back I shared the good news of us falling pregnant in Jan2012.

Unfortunately,I lost my little bean once again on 4th march.

Its both emotional and physical pain to loose your baby. I however, want you to share your experiences with me.

Basically, I am looking for emotional as well as physical betterment remedies/medical suggestions after this shattering experience.

I want you to share your ideas to recover back faster, ways to strengthen womb/eggs for future pregnancies, food remedies to support body requirements during and after the bleeding is over.

I had a natural miscarriage and facing severe headaches ever since. Also, odd some pains in my uterus and bad back pains since then. I want to know what to expect in such circumstances. What care should i take to get back on ttc asap.

To start with, my mom has told me to massage hair/head with ghee and tie with cotton cloth such as to cover my hair and it has actually given me some relief from headaches.I am also on warm carom(ajwain) seeded water(water boiled with carom seeds , sieved ,cooled down and use for drinking) for my body to get back to normal.

Its such a taboo subject that people generally do forget to discuss the aftermath and path to physical recovery. I hence, need help of all the Ilites here.

Pls pour in your advices/experiences/home remedies/food plans etc.

PS:I have already seen a doctor for scans/blood works /tests to confirm there is nothing left inside and that my blood count is not bad. Also, could i request to give english names of ingredients used in recipes so that people from different cultural backgounds could get benefited.

    Hi Riya
M very sorry for your loss.. Miscarriage is a devastating experience and it happens to all of us Pls don't worry about it try to overcome it in positive note that you will have a healthy pregnancy next time.. Once your body has recovered you can start ttc.. Start eating foods that are good in zinc i. e pumpkin seeds and increase your folate level in food including green vegetables etc also start talking folic acid supplement
.. Preconceptional folic acid supplements are very essential nowadays .. Don't worry you will have a healthy pregnancy next time.. God bless

So sorry to hear your loss. Truely noone can provide u relaxation of mind. You are taking carrom seeds water really good for uterus health. I will suggest you one thing.. fry one tsp dry ginger powder and one tea cup whole wheat flour in ghee make a halwa with this adding jaggery preferable or sugar if u dont get jaggery. Eat this u will feel a lot of strength inside and very good for healing too. If u are heavy weight then eat little and twice or thrice a week. Another thing always follow your gynaec dont forget to take supplements like iron. folic hopimg u are trying to conceive again. Dont get upset for the loss which is difficult to do but try to make up your mood for coming baby. If possible try to visit some homeo doctor. Sometimes i read homeo books and i read they have medicines for such cases, like miscarriage one time then some med to be taken next time to prevent any other problem. Keep hope God is with u.

    take care,
    Padma

I think i will surely go ahead with dry ginger powder halwa. Great tips. Folic acid I am yet to start again... I am thinking of starting ttc after my next cycle.Homeo doc is quite tough to find here in UK but i will surely see if i could get some advice going forward.

    Hi Riya..

First of all you need a pat on the back, for showing the courage to accept what has happened and to move on. I know the sorrow will remain, but whats best in the interest of all is to accept, move on and try again. I applaud your effort taken in trying to recover physically, because at this moment along with mental strength you need to take care of your body too...

My cousin had undergone a miscarriage and last year and i had seen it all really closely. She was following a strict schedule, to of course recuperate her strength and to also divert her mind. This was her schedule-

    1. She used to start her day with drinking a huge glass of jeera water (boil cumin seeds, cool and strain the water- it was supposed to regulate her levels and to cool her body)

2.In the mornings, go for a walk (she was advised some rest for a week and asked to resume normal activities) and within a week, she incooperated a swim after her walks.

2.When she returned back, she was apply dhanwanthra oil (its an ayurvedic oil, available in most of the indian stores and available online. this oil is supposedly said to strengthen the muscles and relive you of any sort of pain. it is famous in kerala to massage preg ladies and used for post natal massages. it seems, ladies who miscarry are also advised the same)- she used to warm the oil and apply it all over and in 20-30 mins take a warm water shower.

    4. she avoided red meat, fish, poultry and ate lots of nuts, veggies and fruits.

    5. she was also advised by an ayurvedic physician to drink karipetti coffee (this is made with palm sugar. you will need holy basil, dried ginger and peppercorns. boil them in water, add a pinch of coffee powder and add 2 tsp of palm sugar)...

She continued with this routine for about 3 months, she actually got good and was back to her self in a month but it seems the new discpline and lifestyle made her feel better and cleaner (thats how she puts it)...

its been about 6 months (she took a gap) and now she is expecting again and thankfully all is good...

hope this helps you, you will be fine very soon :)

    Hey Riya.

Sorry for your loss dear. But reading this very thread, I can see how strong you are and am sure you'll bounce back in no time. Here are my two cents.

Like I wrote to you too, I read this is a forum just today.
Three foods to help you recover well from a miscarriage are:
Foods rich in Iron, Foods rich in Calcium and Comfort food.

There are many foods that are rich in Iron and dairy products make up for the calcium.
But do make sure not to take the iron supplements and the calcium together. Iron is to be taken with Vitamin C to help it get absorbed better. Calcium disrupts the body's ability to absorb iron. An orange or a glass of orange juice helps.

I read about the list of food to be avoided too: (Source - Livestrong.com)
    Soy:
The high phytate levels associated with soybeans interferes with your ability to absorb heme and non-heme iron. You need extra iron after a miscarriage since you lose blood; iron helps make up several components of blood, so it is critical for making more.

    Fast Food and Junk food:
It is important to eat the right foods to help prevent depression, so avoid fast foods and junk foods that contribute nothing towards the nutritions the body needs.

    High Carbohydrate Foods
Your body needs protein to heal properly after a miscarriage, so avoid eating a high carbohydrate, low protein diet in the period following the event. While you still require carbs to generate energy and maintain brain and kidney function, upping protein – particularly protein derived from lean meats that provide the amino acids your body cannot manufacture – might prove beneficial during healing as amino acids influence cellular repair.

    Hope this helps. :)

@Tanoshii:thanks a ton dear.Your two cents counted more than a million :) i am surely going to talk to gp abt calcium and iron supplements.. you know how things work here:( I was not aware of iron and calcium link so thats an added advantage to know.Things to avoid were real informative as i again was ignorant of it. Thats the beauty of IL as we learn and grow here everyday! Thanks dear Tanoshii.
