    Hi Ladies

I read some tips on internet how to store indian food in freezer for quick use.I am following some of them.I cooked dal in large amt, tomato puree and froze in small containers.I made some chapatis uncooked and froze them.I made tamarind juice in put in the fridge,it would cut down the time.I would like to know from you what other foods can be frozen...I also froze some base gravy but never tried...I am just trying to freeze foods to be handy in weekends so that I would cook fast and spend more time with my hubby:)Did any of you froze chutneys like tomato chutney and bombay(besan) chutney for idlis...
    Thanks in advance...

I,m not sure about other kind of chutney but I have frozen green chutney in ice cube tray and when ever needed for any snack i just take required number of cubes and use.

I too froze the Indian food like dal, currys in a small containers made of glass, so that when we reheat in microwave there is no issue of plastic. I dont usually frozen other foods like tamarind juice, onions etc, but I frozen the cut vegetables keeping them in ziplog bags.

I freeze Idli batter, dosa batter, dal for sambhar, cooked red chori, channa dal,cut veggies etc. Always use frozen ziplog bags or glass pyrex container.

Do not roast the chapati fully. Just roll and put on the tawa till the rawness of the dough dissappears. You can cool and freeze in ziplock bags.

When required, thaw completely. Then roast on tawa as usual.

I think that certain things are better canned than frozen. I have a tomato chutney that I love and I can a number of jars of this and they store nicely for a couple years in the cool basement. Any vinegar based or fruit based chutney would can well and you just do a huge batch and you are good for a long time.
