Hi ashu.. welcome to KL as well as IndusLadies.. :welcome I just give my suggestions for your queries.. I have been here for 2 years, and these are just to help you.. Do a thorough research before you decide.. 1. How much wud be the rent of fully furnished 2-3 bed room apartment in klcc area near twin towers..... how much wud be utilities i.e water , electricity, gas , internet? The rent of apartments is the most expensive near KLCC area.. Its usually above RM3000++ Here is a link where you can check for "for Rental property near klcc area" click here I suggest living somewhere like the 'BrickFields'(Little India) or 'KL Sentral' will help you to be in an Indian community with excellent public transport and just 5 mins from KLCC by train. 2. Is there any Indian grocery store near that area ... if not then how far is the nearest Indian store from that area Indian grocery stores are in brickfields (7kms - 10-15 minutes) 3. How gud is the commute system... is it feasible to survive without car .... as my husband will get car only for business purpose. You can survive without a car if you live as well as work in the KLCC, KL Sentral or Brickfields area.. KL is well-connected by public transport, whereas Selangor is not.. often there is no separation between these 2 areas, as people travel wide and far.Depends on your needs.. 4. How much is the cost to rent a car on weekends .... and is car seat for 2 yr mandatory? Cost to rent - minimum starts with RM 50 per day for the smallest car.. Car seat, i think, not mandatory.. 5. Is it easy to get some domestic help like maids ... and r they reliable and safe? Yes, easy to get part-time for Rm15/hour. You have to be around to supervise. Full-time maids are a separate chapter, involves lots of deposit, fees, holidays etc, what not.. 6. Is there any gud day care in klcc area? ..... how much it costs to keep baby there for couple of hrs in a day? should be.. but no idea about the pricing.. Happy moving to KL.. Hi This is my 1st post in IL. Have been a silent reader of all posts. Need info on shifting to KL. On an avg how much salary will be required to survive and save a reasonable amt in KL? Kindly elaborate with slit ups. Thanks in advance. Deepa
Hi Thanks a lot for all the information ... I really appreciate ur effort as well time to reply back all the queries... i m sure all the info provided by u will help me in making decision about apartment and location. Again, thanks for it Take care Ashu
There is no one $$$$ answer to your question Deepa.. It all "depends' on your family, size, living style, and other necessities...... Ask, if you have some specific questions or if you doubt whether $$$$ will be sufficient? But, one +ve aspect is "KL is really a cheap place to live in, consider the cost of living just rapidly rising in all other developed nations......" You can really earn and save well...... and live a life of luxury.. Better if 2 people earn.... No problem, Ashu.. Happy moving here.. It will be a nice change..
KLCC falls in Kelana Jaya LRT line..so you can find accomodation near any station LRT in that line.. As KLSentral and Little India are also in the same line (Kelana Jaya), you can commute by train. If you are not specific abt indian surroundings, you can even find accomodation in Wangsa Maju , Taman Melati ,Setia Wangsa , Gombak. Traffic is little better here and u can find the atmosphere peaceful than the brickfields. Rent is generally around 2000 - 3000 RM for furnished apartments (3 BHK).
Dear Preethi Thanks for your reply. Consider my husband's sal to be 7k RMs.. Approximately how much will be needed for a family of 3. I have a 1 yr old son. We can accept the offer based on this only.
Dear Deepa, It is based on the following: tax deduction House rental + utilities Transport groceries child needs entertainment savings You can find out how much is the net salary after the tax deduction.. decide on any housing area + furnished or not furnished.. but say you will need atleast (RM1000 to get a decent 2 bed room apartment) if you plan to buy a car, (atleast RM 1000 for installment).. or else minimal amount for public transport, your travel will be limited.. groceries.. veg or non veg.. Also read the thread "cost of living in kl"... to get more ideas Kindly compare the cost RM7000++ with the salary that you currently receive.. how much savings can be done..then think about if the relocation would do you good..
