Negative pregnancy test but late period :-( the tension is killing me

Hi Friends,

Me and my DH are trying to concieve from 5 months. I am never late on my period I have 28 day cycle.
Only this month I am already 5 days late and I was very happy thinking may be we hit off this time.
I took the pregnancy test and it is negative . I have taken three if them from yeterday morning, evening and again today morning and all of them are negative.

I am soo worried as this is neither way and i cant think about anything else. Do you guys think I am pregnant or my body is playing tricks with me. has anyone been pregnanat even when their test was negative?

I have a cousin that this happened to.
Her hormones aren't the way that most people's are, and she didn't show up as pregnant on even a blood test until after she was six months pregnant. She argued and argued with her doctor, because she could tell she was pregnant and the test kept coming back negative. It's rare though. If you are having a negative home test your best bet is to make an appointment with your doctor to make sure, because you could have gotten a false negative or their could be something else going on.

Aries1204,
Don't panic. Get some rest and test again after 40 days. Sometimes the pregnancy hormones don't show up until then even though you have a perfect 28 day cycle. If you still show negative and haven't got your cycle either, contact your doctor and ask for a blood test. Usually it shows better in blood than by urine. But take care until then and don't stress too much.

Siily :Wow six months is too late I wonder how stressful it could have been for your cousine.

Tanoshii: Thanks..I am trying to relax, I guess I will wait for one more week and then take the test again. 40 days will surely make me crazy. I dont have any symptooms of PMS ( Tender breast, cramps, spotting) But also I dont have any symptoms of Prenancy also . I have only more saliva secretion thats all.

i m also with u in this problem.even it happened with me last month ,my period came after 50 days and now again my period is very delayed ,so even i think ,can it be pregnancy ? but dont know what to do.just waiting as this time even 50 days time is over.

Just relax and try putting your mind into something else. Stress can cause a havoc with all this.

sometimes late ovulation can delay periods..i have had such cycles 2-3 times last year.Test after day 40 again.good luck

50days is too much wait time if you have not had irregular periods before. Have you been to doctor ? what was the report

Friends, I think I will wait for couple of more weeks to see and retest. What I wanted to know was if anyone who had negative pregnancy test was really pregnant. I am just hoping that is the case with me

hello aries1204..

what had happened to me was, i used to have irregular periods until 2 years back and was on medication. and from then i am havin a proper cycle- even if i forget, my body doesnt forget and i was having a good cycle.

i was expecting my period in oct and when i missed it i took a home test, it was negative. i kept waiting and did some exercises- still a delay and tested again. negative! after 3-4 days i didnt get my menses and again a negative test. i thought my irregular periods issue returned and the doc did a urine test and she told me, we shall wait for 10 more days and see. she said at times, newly weds have this issue (due to some hormonal changes and stuff; i got married in sept)...

since by now it was 4 tests that showed i was not pregnant- i was getting very active. i used to skip the rope, cleaning and mopping and stuff. 12 days past and i went to the doc again and she said before i give you medicine to induce your period, lets check again. and guess what, i was positive...

looks like i was a case of late ovulation and thus conception is late and so all the delay...

my doc was explaining to me that at times, due to stress or extreme levels of emotions- our ovulation gets affected.

so maybe you should wait a week more and visit a doc and discuss your posibilities...i am sure things will turn out good
