    Dear friends,

I have moved to a new place recently and have found a new doc here... I have an appt with the mid-wife on Thursday and before tht she wanted to talk to me and get a few details from me... I spoke to her yesterday and she asked me a couple of questions which confused me as well as her... :-(

Let me give a little bg about my issue...

I had an ectopic pregnancy in the month of June... I had a lap done to remove it... The lap surgery was done on the 23rd of June... Then I did a HPT on July 30 or August 1st(dont rem exactly) and found tht I was pregnant... I did not get a period after the surgery because right after the surgery I fell pregnant... I went for a blood work on August 5th which confirmed my pregnancy... Then on August 18th, I went for my first U/S... The machine showed exactly tht I was 6 weeks pregnant... But the radiologist gave a report to my gyn saying I was 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant... The radiologist took June 23(day of my surgery) as the LMP and gave a due date of March 28... But my doctor said tht March 28 was not my due date as I must have ovulated late because of the surgery and tht my DD was April 16(counting from August 18 where I was 5 weeks and 3 days)... As of today my babys growth is 28 weeks and 6 days...

Now coming to the actual problem... Now when I spoke to the mid-wife.. She is asking me all kinds of questions which I am unable to answer...

    1. First thing she asked me, if u saw the U/S machine showed 6 weeks, why did the radiologist give the report to ur doc sayin u were 5W and 3 days??

Can anybody help me out with this?? Has anybody faced such a situation and do u know why she would have given the report like tht??

    2. How was ur doctor so sure tht u ovulated late?? She(MW) says tht it is written no where tht u should ovulate late after a surgery... So, how does she know tht u ovulated late and tht the babys growth was not right on track?? How can ur doc be so sure tht the baby was not slow in growth??

Friends, isn't the first U/S always accurate??? If the baby's growth was slow during the first U/S(at 5 weeks) would the baby even survive??? Can the first U/S show a difference of two weeks in the baby's growth?? And also, if it was wrong, again in the second and thirs trimester the baby's growth should have slowed down na, it should not be on track right?? But the baby's growth is exact and it should be 28 weeks and 6 days counting from the first U/S and it is 28 weeks and 6 days...

    3. Third thing, this lady is telling me like if I was 5 weeks and 3 days on August 18th, then I should have conceived on July 24th... I was not even with my husband on July 24th, I was on a tour with my parents... Then how is that even possible?? Then she told me like, may be anytime between July 21 and July 24... I said ok...

Now my question is if I had conceived on July 21st, how is tht I ahd implantation bleeding on July 23rd??? Implantation bleeding usually occurs between the 6th and 12th day after conception right?? I also had some bleeding on the 13th of July??? How is tht possible?? And I got a positive pregnancy test on the 30th of July.. Is it possible to get a positive on a HPT so early??

Friends, I know I have confused u all too now... I know all these questions are too late to be asked now... But I am confused and unable to answer her... Thats why came here to ask u all, so that some of u can help me out... She will again be asking me all these questions on Thursday, before tht I need some help from u all... Please help me out...

    Thanks in advance...

Hey my dear, how are you? It's great to see that you are close to your due date.
Now coming to your question, hEre in Canada, doctors can contact any lab or clinic from a different province. Is it possible for your midwife to contact the lab and your previous doctor? That could clear up a few doubts. Here even pharmacists can contact doctors; so I am guessing there must be a way for you to cross check your old records. Try doing that first.

And US never is 100% accurate; this is what I was told. They get 99% close but never 100%.

    Hi ,

I am not sure how i can help you with this issue...But i would like to tell my case so that you can stop stressing yourself a lot...If you have read my post in Fertility forum, you will know that i don't even know my LMP and came to know i was pregnant at about 22w3d......That too from the scan and the measurements....From then on only the scan is the measuring factor for my due date and baby's growth...And we had 2 detailed complete anomalies scan checks one in South Africa(in 2nd trim) and another in India (in early 3rd trim) and everything came out as normal as per report...... .And we are going only by the baby's growth and as of now i am going to complete 33 weeks...

Nobody can predict the conception time exactly...That is what my doctor and fetal specialist told me....We can only say it could have happened at this time, but you never know..They told me why do you want to look for trouble, when there is none.....I would say the same thing....If possible contact your old doctor and get the clarifications....But stop worrying so much now that you are into early 3rd trim and ur stress can affect the baby....

Take it easy and handle this and don't worry too much about all these dates....Any anomalies or issues would have come out in the 2nd trim scans.....Just relax and enjoy the pregnancy...

I forgot to add, once you complete 36 weeks, you are considered full term. I am sure your midwife also told this. So be prepared for labor anytime after that and it's bound to happen when it does. Its norml to have delivery anywhere between 36-42 weeks. You still fall under this. To be honest, I did everything I was told to do and then some; still my DD was born a little under weight (I told the same in the birth story). So, even though the US says that baby is big/small/normal it could still change in the end. So, I suggest that you don't stress yourself too much at this stage.

    Hi inlovewithmylyf

congrats on ur pregnancy and hope u have a safe delivery. In my case with my DD, I was too in US at that time. According to my LMP my due date was 1st of Jan, but right after teh first sono at eight weeks, they said that baby was looking small and that the eight week sono is pretty accurate in terms of size...so they concluded that I must have ovulated late and they adjusted the due date to 14th of Jan. However, my DD was born on the 3rd of Jan and at that time the doc who comes in to check the baby said that the baby was 40 weeks, ie, on time..she said that by looking at the nails and some other factors..and that my earlier date of 1st Jan was the perfect one....So my 2cents for u is do not worry unnecessarily as long as the baby n ur doing fine and ur not having any health problems.

I am not understanding why the midwife is making so much fuss for a difference of just 4 days?

    hi INLOVe

looks like you ar ein lot of confusion .as I told earlier the first US is the most aquarate .The Baby's growth largely depends on your body type and hormone levels. No body can predict the actual conception date as the fertilization can occur between 30 mins to even 48 hours after IC .The bleeding that you might have had on jul 13 th and Jul 23rd might be the remnants of the past ecotoptic and Its possible to get the HPT within 1 week ( i got mine positive 5 days before my AF and that month I had a late ovulation and I know for sure my likely conception date ( the gap was mere 5 days ) ) Every woman has different HCG levels so yours and mine might a little over thats why we had lot of nausea and vomitting so don't worry .Usually when there is less than 7 days difference between US and the LMP they go by LMP and according to you your LMP was June 23 then go by that .don't bother what the midwife says or doctor says .Go by your maternal instincts .These are juts numbers don't worry .Hope your Nausea and Vomitting has subsided

Rakhii dear, my MWs unnecessary questions only made me stressed out and tensed... I never even had answers to her never ending questions... :-( ... Ya, I read somewhere tht once u cross 36 weeks then ur considered full term... MW never told me this... :-( ... I had an US at 29 weeks and 4 days and the baby measured 1.5kg... I hope that weight is normal... I dont know if there could be changes when the baby is born...
