I had a dream!

[justify]Well well, don't be too quick in assuming! No no, not a dream like Matin Luther King Jr. You see there is just one little difference - he said "have" and I said "had". Yes, I am speaking of just a dream, us normal regular human beings have literally on day to day to basis or should I say "night to night basis"?

Ask anyone, who has moved to a foreign country - except for one particular French couple I know who shipped a container, almost every one else will agree that we all come in with four suitcases to four walls and a phone! And then they keep us company - the walls when we are alone setting up the house, decking those very walls up, that phone connecting us with people we love and getting us in touch with others and of course the four suitcases which will help us go back and forth between the two homes, taking stuff and bringing back stuff.

My trip to India is coming up but not for another 6 months atleast - I just returned 5 months ago for crying out loud! Anyways, usually packing is a logistics problem taking into consideration the longer duration of the stay, the various functions, planned and unplanned travels and visits, the presents etc. and it is easy to see how the four suitcases can get full quickly and easily! And if in all sincerity I do take less and manage the whole two months with just three dresses, almost all the relatives, far and near feel an obligation to present me with more dresses - they do get tired of seeing me in those 'same' clothes which are outdated anyways by the then current Indian trends, according to them and there you go, my suitcases in no time are full again. Then there is this aunt or that aunt who has visited me in the past and had noticed what was lacking in my house and made it a point to keep it ready so that I can bring it back and all that yummy food that gets specially made and trust me, dispite the grand plan to leave some/most of the things back, there are all those things that I end up buying and I am back to bringing four full suitcases again - you know the story now!

Is it a surprise that I am already dreaming about the four suitcases? Only I dreamt that I was travelling very very light because of which I was literally floating like a feather. Oh what a moment to feel like that - as that light yellow feather drifting off? And then what do I see, my orchids in bloom? Well that woke me up to reality, with a startle and a thought "how did I miss not noticing my orchids getting ready to bloom?" for I love them and watch them and talk to them even - I love the whole process of how long they take to start even to form the little branch with a little indication of a probable bud and those little buds and then those beautiful blooms that seem to stay for ever and ever! I came down running and was relieved to see that the buds were just forming as I had remembered seeing the previous night and that there were no flowers yet and it was all a dream. After all waiting for my orchids to bloom is the present and those suitcases....let me deal with that when it is time![/justify]

Only you can give such a lovely and beautiful response quoting so many and yet keeping the humor intact! From you answer I gather that when we are younger probably our dreams will/should not allow us to sleep only to be replaced with dreams as we sleep to needing to start day dreaming so that we may drift off to sleep. Well atleast they are important in every phase of our life and it is good to know that. Now I can sleep in peace

That is such a lovely explanation of the scene in the movie sir - I 'had' watch it long long ago and seem not to remember much about the movie except for a very young Tom Hanks. Your reference to it time and again has led me to tell my DH that that is going to be the movie of the week for us this weekend. Hopefully I will see it in a new light and find appreciation for such a classic. Thank you for letting me know about it.

Seriously Cheeniya sir, I was awaken startled for I was indeed a feather floating towards my orchids in my dream - it was a lovely feeling and i felt extremly relieved that I was more anxious, feather or otherwise and in waiting to see my orchids to bloom than anything else. I think in a way it is a blessing especially after knowing what it is to wait ..... be it in irritation or anticipation or frustration! It is indeed a feeling of unbounded joy to wait, watching the plant every single morning without fail and you know something else sir, this was a rescue orchid - whole another story anyways this plant makes sure it has only two leaves throught out the year, perhaps just to bloom every year and I would like to think for me!
