Who doesn’t like to have a beautiful and clean kitchen? But in current busy life style, we all have very little time spare on clean up things. Especially me , I love to cook , but I really don’t like clean the mess. Again I don’t even like to enter the kitchen if it doesn't look clean (????) .So I need tips from you guys in having clean ,smart and attractive kitchen without consuming all my lovely weekend in cleaning up ..
Here are few points to start this thread:
Be choosy and wise while purchasing kitchen appliances - This saves both space and money and evades unnecessary mess up. And more over a spacious kitchen looks more clean and attractive.
Kitchen lighting: Lighting is very important in kitchen area. Food preparation area should have proper lighting.

very nice topic to discuss...

here comes my suggestions..

1) use limited utensils..
2) cleaning the utensils then & there..
3) planning to some extent is necessary....
4) use kitchen only for cooking.. cutting & sorting can be done either in the dining room or in the hall...
5) dispose the old utensils & purchase necessary utensils for exchange..

for a working women.., to have clean kitchen, these can be done only with the help of other family members.. atleast one.. :thumbsup

Shambu ... I liked all your suggestions.. especially disposing old utensils.. I have seen few people who maintains all old stuff for later use (including my mother) ... But this will not work out for all..

Good topic to discuss,
One more thing, not only working women its very helpful if the family helps now and then. Because the same goes to shopping and keeping it in right places makes women more tired.

Nice topic

I really dont know the answer as coz, i am new to cooking.

As of now what i am doing is,

1. Washing the vessels then and there (dont forget to dry your hand with towel then and there)
2. While cooking, clean the rest... like, while onion is frying in pan, washing the vessels, etc
3. After every use orpurchasing, put every item on place

One more here : wash vegetables in a washing-up bowl full of water instead of under a running tap .This saves both time and water.

Nice tips Please find a few more...
- Use the same boxes for storeage and do not keep them changing everytime.
- Wash the boxes every month brfore refilling them.
- Instead of using paper on the shelfs use plastic sheets as they both look good and can be cleaned and used easily.
- Try buying and using tupperware.. they real make ur place look good . Esp of oil cans.. they are great...
- Have a plant in ur kitchan window... a money plant or table rose would look great and give you a fresh feeling every morning.

All are very useful tips.. If we are not able to clean the vessels then and there atleast pour some water on vessels (esp idli cookers) so that it wont dry and will be easy while cleaning.. I used to cut vegetable in the night itself for next day cooking.. keep the oil bottles in a flat box so that it would not spread over the full shelf (I use empty plastic sweet box bottom to keep oil bottles).
