Hi Deep, You can have fenugreek porridge to increase the supply. Soak fenugreek and cracked wheat and boil them to porridge consistency. You can add milk to that if you want. Have a diet high in protein with dhal, lentils , Bengal gram etc.. What made you say ur supply is insufficient? Is it because your baby is waking up from sleep after a short while? May your baby is just snacking. I had the same situation when my baby is 1 month old.. My baby goes to sleep after 5 mins of feeding and wake after 10-20 minutes again for feeding, and this repeats. It was tiring as I didn't get any rest/did not ant time for other work. My baby's ped said, she is just snacking which have to be discouraged as I don't have any other time to do normal household activities. This is what I did according to Ped's advice. If the baby slept while feeding, wake her up( this can be done by tickling , changing clothes, diapers etc). Repeat this until she feed atleast 25-30 mins . The whole process of one feeding can be 1 hr. but it paid off.Next feed her only after. 1.5 -2 hrs. Even if she cry, sooth her by holding , rocking etc..slowly she returned to the normal feeding schedule. If you can afford to buy breast pump, you can try pumping and giving, as the baby wil be able to have more milk from the bottle in a short time..one thing to remember us it's just demand and supply. Make baby to suck more for a few days with a healthy diet. You will see the difference.
hii deep, first of all be in a relaxed mood..tension makes u in a less supply...try drumstick leaves,arai keerai,brown ravai porridge..if u r nv u can hav pal sura(white)..garlic is also a good source:cool2: ...:cool2:
Hi You can have dil (leafy veg looks like grass) cooked like a curry,if you take non-veg minced meat, lots of garlic in all your curries, and methi leaves also. and as much as babies are put to the breast milk will start coming.Let her nurse as often as she wants Hope this helps mahalakshmi
Eat fried garlic in the morning. Drink lots of water. Sabudana (Javvarasi in tamil) is a good source of milk. Keep eating healthy foods every 2-3 hours. Do not get tensed. Babies generally have a growth spurt where they will suddenly start feeling very hungry and start taking milk frequently. But our metabolism is such that , as the baby starts sucking for more milk, within few days we will start secreting more milk. So, this problem will be there only for few days. But in the mean time, if you start giving formula milk, then mother's milk will not increase and the milk will remain less only. One more reason could be that your baby is getting used to your warmth and not drinking completely and sleeps off. You should wake her up , make sure that she has drank her milk to her stomach full, before she sleeps Hope it helps
Make sure you take good quantity of calcium in ur diet. If u eat fish, include lot of small fish in ur diet(like sardine). Drumstick leaves, fenugreek, lenthils, milk, ghee are also good to increase breast milk
Hi dear, You can add more garlic in your food and my obs suggested lactonic granules for me during breast feeding. If you are nonveg you can add fish in your diet. Add ghee in your diet and even you should drink more milk. From my practical experience nendram pazham or banana increases my breast milk supply. All the very best. With love, Abarnakrish .
Dill and garlic are great. I use to eat one whole ghee roasted garlic a day. Also pumping for 15 minutes after every feed increased my supply. If you don't have a pump let your baby feed at all times for 2-3 days. Getting upset or sad decreases supply due to hormonal change. Also hold you baby as much as possible that increases prolactin which is key for supply. Good luck and don't forget to enjoy your baby as my lactation consultant use to say they will not starve themselves.
drumstick leaves, fenugreek etc should be included plentifully in your food. My doctor suggested Protovine gala, a tonic for me and I had enough BM.never stop your baby from feeding, give milk frequently, it will increase the production. My grand mother used to say that you should not pour hot water on breasts while taking bathe. it is believed that heat can effect BM production.
