    Hello ladies,
    Once again trying to seek help.
    Does any one of you or your friends know a good divorce lawyer in Los Angeles area? I am in need of initial counsultation & advise.

    Ladies,

    Look at your local county bar association and ask them for referrals. Most of the counties do the referrals for free and initial consultation might be even free or at a discount rate.

    I dont know about any reliable lawyer yet. But there are lawyers who do free consultation for the first meeting. I am going to prepare my questions & talk to him on phone.

    Ladies,

    the other thing you can do is to join some local meetup groups of divorced ladies and find some info too. Lots of them will share information and that way you get first hand experiences also.

    Thanks for your suggestion Newbeginning.
    Do you mean the local family court by "county bar association". I just want to get inital advise from lawyer & want to file on my own. will hire attorney in later stage only if my husband hires one. But before that I want do some groundwork & keep couple of good lawyers ready on the list.


    there could be local ladies group who are divorced but I am looking out for only Desi women who have same cultural background as mine & we can understand each other better.. I would be happy to meet any other Indian single moms or divorcees in LA.

    Search for your county bar association and you will know what I mean. From there you will get some lawyers referalls and you can go meet them and shop for lawyers.

    The reason I told you to goto meetups from local area is to get experiences about lawyers and how they handled their cases....esp since you are filing for divorce here in US, and how many desis can you expect to find in your area. Its always better to broaden your views. And also for every question you have, do you want to pay your lawyer or get some views on it first from ppl experiences...so think about it.
