    Hi friends,

First time I am starting a thread here. Actually Spuppala's thread reminded me of an incident which I would love to share with you.

My neighbours had a German shepherd who was very friendly with us too. The moment he saw my dad, he would run and bring a big stone and drop it at his feet. This was the signal. Dad would have to throw the stone and he would go and get it. Try as he might, Dad could not get it from him. He would latch on to the stone tightly, hover around Dad and refuse to drop the stone. All Dad had to do then was feign disinterest. Promptly doggy would drop the stone back at his feet. It used to be great fun to watch.

When my sister delivered my niece and brought her home, she went to the neighbour's house on the first day with the baby for something. Doggy loped along and my sister for a moment stood still wondering what he was going to do. He looked up at sis holding the baby, jumped up just as everyone geared up to grab him by the collar, stood on his hind legs, peered at the baby without touching her, got down and went off. It was so wonderful to see such sensitivity (in spite of curiosity) in a dog. Even after that in the afternoons (it was winter) we used to put her out on a cot in the courtyard so it would be a bit warm and she could get some sunshine. Doggy used to come by and be walking around, but not once did he ever hurt or even come near the baby.

Looking forward to hearing such stories of animal sensitivities from all of you.

    Hai Satchit,

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012. Nice article. Normally the animals will not harm the infant rather it will take care of
the infant very well than the human. It will keen on observing the child knows the child language and movement
    and will play accordingly.

    Halo there,
Time and again its great to see interesting threads on the lovely Pets forum. Thanks Sachidananda for starting another great topic. I felt happy after reading about your neighbour's dog. Lovely and superb.

Its time for tinku to peep inside this thread too. We used to buy some playthings of doggies from petshops for Tinku and he would play with those. Sometimes, he gets bored and drops and goes. When he sees someone pick up his plaything, he would come gushing like a storm from somewhere and snatch it and run.

The plaything can lie anywhere for hours and he might not even bother about it, but none should touch it. If someone passing by just slightly hits his toy, he will run like mad to get it. At that moment he will forget the whole world. Only his toy remains his goal. He might stamp the laptop or he might run on a newspaper if its lying down or even on someone who is resting on the floor. His eyes and mind concentrate only on one thing - the goal of his life - his beloved toy. Great meditator.

I think he follows the rule 'ARISE, AWAKE AND STOP NOT TILL THE GOAL IS REACHED.'

If we dont give him his toy, he becomes furious and barks at us till he gets it.

And sometime before he was doing the same like what sachidananda mentioned, but with his bone-like plaything. He will fetch it from somewhere and keep it near our legs where we are sitting and watch us. If we try to act like taking the bone, he will take it and run like mad. Again he comes and puts near our leg and watches our face. Again the same thing we do, and he runs again with it.

I dont know why the hell he should take such a risk. Mad doggie.

And when he was under a year, everyday morning as soon as he wakes up, he runs to the next room where his belt lies and stands near the belt looking for anyone to come and tie it around his neck. He will wait, watching if anyone is coming. Only after we tie it around his neck, he will run outside to pass urine. And as soon as he gets inside, one can see him waiting near the dining table to receive two biscuits. I think that's why he hurries to tie his belt and proceeds to toilet.

And if his doctor comes home for vaccination, he will run and hide under the cot. He wont come and we have to show him his cup of pedigree to get him out. But after long hesitation and after temptations (He is mad when he sees a bread slice), he will spring out. And ya, he will be caught.

Sometimes he will spin around himself barking when the bun is getting warmed in the oven, when its out of the fridge. He barks like mad spinning around himself and we cant stop laughing. That's a cute pup's tale.

I think I have taken the thread somewhere. Let me stop here.

WISHING A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012 FOR ALL THE BEINGS OF THE ANIMAL AND BIRD KINGDOM from doggie TINKU

I love to speak about my Danny. We had a water pump at home and one fine day,my father found that Danny had nibbled on those wires. My father got so angry and we were scared if he would hit Danny. At that moment,Danny just went and hid behind my Mom. Immediately,my father's anger melted away. That day,we felt that Danny was not just our dog..but our brother.
I have lots of such stories..I miss him.

    Hi Rose,

It is really funny watching their expressions when they are guilty and repentant for what they did. Do share other stories of him too with us. Would love to hear.

    Hi Sachi and others,

oh sure I will keep posting more mad tales of Tinku. Meanwhile, I will be happy to see more postings of animal sensitivities from you all hich I always love reading.

And ya Sachi, as you said I think I am lucky to have him. I initially resisted when my DH was telling of buying him when he was a few days old, but today he rules our house. He makes my days brighter. I forget many sad things in life because of Tinku. I beleive he is a gift from the heavens.

    Halo,
I am getting inside again to share some more of Tinku's tales.

One day, when I went inside the bathroom to wipe the mirror, Tinku also came in. I asked him to go out as he might get wet. But he paid no heed to it and was blinking and standing watching me work. When I got out of the bathroom, he wouldnt come out. Instead he started barking at me asking me to wipe the mirror more I think. So that he can be inside the bathroom in my company I suppose. I dont know what he meant by that.

Me, DH and my parents asked him to come out, but he was barking louder and louder seeing me. I really couldnt understand why. And everyone was scolding me why I kept the bathroom door open when I was wiping the mirror as he follows everywhere.

But following to the bathroom was something new. And I was laughing on seeing him becoming adamant. And finally he sat inside and I was acting like locking him inside and then opened again. But he still wanted to be inside, even though left alone, I dont know why and what he meant by that.

After asking him to come out a few more times we sensed that he wouldnt listen. And we kept the door open and I took a bread slice and was acting like eating and casually talking to others. That moment he sprang out and he wanted to eat bread. Thank God, we immediately locked the bathroom door.

Sometimes he will sit on the newspaper when my dad opens it for reading, My dad sometimes, sits on the floor and spreads the newspaper on the floor and starts to read. Immediatly Tinku comes and sits on the centre of the newspaper and will not go. He will not allow my dad to read and my dad will ask him to get up and go, but he wouldnt listen. I dont know why he is interested to sit on the newspaper. Crazy boy! He doesnt have a place to sit inside the house.

And I take his plaything and act like playing with it, and he will come running. We have to divert him showing this and that like with a child.

Am waiting for more such insane stories from others too. I bet you guys will have some interesting episodes to share. Let me wait.

    Hi Tinku,

Doggies are just like little kids. One can spend all one's time just watching their antics. :)
