    Hi all

I was working in software testing in India, then came to UAE with hubby, started working here after a gap of 2 years....Now here the project is contract one...we are planning to go back to India and settle there.

I have started applying in India through naukri, monster...but not getting a single call.
getting some mails to send my CV, but after that nobody is replying...I am trying from last 2 months..here my project will end in 2/3 months, there is a chance for extension...but I really dont want to stay here..

What should I do to get a job in India...they are not preferring to call abroad candidates coz lots are there in India..Should I go to India for 1 month and start applying there??some companies are mentioning f2f interview only...I have called so many companies/consultancies in india, they are just telling to send CV..thats all...no reply..

I am relally worried now...Hubby will switch by Feb/march ...If i will not get anything by that time then again a GAP will come in my career...The previous GAP was for my kid...but now what excuse can I tell if this gap will happen??

Friends...pls help me...give me some suggestions...I am really tensed..

    Dear Jasmin,

Many companies prefer candidated currently residing in India as it is easier for them to conduct interviews and negotiations. There are many reasons for this. Being in India assures that the candidate can join one the assured date without any hassle. If you are still abroad, there might be changes in your plan, you might plan to settle in a different city, etc. Many companies now are insisting on a F2F interview as there have been many instances of candidates geeting someone else to answer the interviews.

There are 2 options. One, you can mention your current location as the city you are planning to relocate to or wait till you return to India and take up the interviews. If you get a call during this time, you can say that you are available for interview through video conferencing.

    HI Orion

    Thanks a ton!!

Yes u r right...When I am calling to the concerned people, they are telling the same thing...they want F2F etc etc..
But still many candidates are switching jobs and returning to their home country...and everything is done by Video conferencing...

I have already asked about it...but till now noone agreed for a VC...lets c..It may happen...

Well, mentioning the city we are planning as the current location is a very good idea...I will do that for sure..
I am worried about the other option...The problem is, If my DH gets an offer in Feb, so here his Notice period is 1 month...and the Visa cancellation process and all.... we can move by March mid...Obviously I have to resign here by that time....I am tensed to resign before getting an offer in my hand...Off course I will go and search..but I have heard from my friends that if someone is not working, the companies wont call much...

This is the reason why I am scared...After floating my resume it may take 1/2/3 months to get calls(I dont know really, My friends are telling)...so the GAP may extend...

    Jasmin20 ji,

Since u already have an experience in software testing, it should not be a problem for you to get through the interview. Now a days the requirement is a lot for Loadrunner,QTP and QC( I am receiving some mails with these skill sets).I do understand ur concern of resigning a job without having an offer in hand of the other company.
Its better if u start applying once u reach india. In the meanwhile u can try for different options. Also please make sure u update Naukri/Monster everyday so that u will continuosly receive emails form company/consultancies.

I am not sure in which city u will be settling once u come back to India. If it is Bangalore, then u can try in acropetal consultancy situated in Jayanagar 5th Block,36th cross. They do hiring for freshers as well as experienced.I have messaged u the contact landline number of them(abiding by forum rules of not mentioning the contact number).Give a try. Hope it helps. Let me know if u need any other info..

    Dear Haagesummane

Thank you very much for your reply....I will contact the Consultant you mentioned...

Yes I am updating my naukri/monster accounts regularly, so that the "Last Updated" date can be viewed by the employer..Problem is I am getting mails, when I am sending CV...NO reply...so I am calling the them to make sure if they will conduct telephonic/Video conferencing...some are telling "NO", they will select through F2F.Some other are telling "OK...we will contact you"....thats all...

Our planning is to settle in either Bangalore or Hyderabad.Since DH and me both are switching, so we have kept 2 options...I will call to the consultant and let you know...Thanks again for ur help...

I dont think a small gap of one or two months is going to be such a big deal. One valid reason you can give is relocating back to India, and all the associated work. So you had to take some time off to settle down.

And i too feel that, if you are physically present in India, getting a job in testing should be a cakewalk, especially in bangalore.

    All the best

Dont worry about the gap and get tensed. Small break will not matter. Treat this as an opportunity to spend more time with your kid and do things you like. Also prepare thoroughly for the interviews. When you get a call, you will be able to nail it in the first try.. :)

    jasmin,

apart from this, people are vary when it comes to candidates from abroad for the reason that everyday many of these consultants, jobsites get a lot of applications from nri..and many of these people are just keeping track of the market and are not actually looking for a change or job..We were told this as a reason, why we do not receive many replies from people when you are still abroad.

maybe you need to go through known sources..that may help. and also prefer to select 1/2 good consultants and routing your cv through them..
