    Have any of you carried gold coins to India. I am planning to buy ten 1 pound coins . I don't know about the customs there. How much should I pay for it or is there another way? Pls help me

    Hema, I think the OP actually means 10 sovereigns(10 pavans)... which is equal to 80 gms... :) because each coin will be 8gms or less...

    Oh is it so.For some time I was wondering how people are casually talking about some 4500 grams of gold that is 560 sovereigns of gold.thanks for clarifying me dear.

    Sinsica, if its 10 coins, i am sure you can take it..but i always suggest keeping the bills with you for a smooth sailing.

    Sorry I forgot to update my location. Again sorry it's sovereigns. 10x8 gms of gold. How much tax will I need to pay in INR ? Some say they won't ask anything some say they will ask 30K. Can you help me ?

    I don't think you need to pay for this, if you are travelling for your annual leave. and the number of people accompanying you also matters. but sometimes, you need to pay 220rsx8 = that is around 1600..and a maximum that is possible is 2400..and not 30k.
