When it is the hooch that kills you wonder who to blame, who is filled with shame? When people die consuming a liquid they know can kill why do they go through this agony still? Illegal brewing brews the lives of the poor twisting and turning, intoxicating bubbles killing. Families lose their breadwinners to the wrath of a fire let loose in empty stomachs and frustrated minds, for respite - this murderous hooch is all they could find. Will the law makers sit up, do something? Or just fill their treasury at the cost of the poor man's misery? (the recent hooch tragedy in Kolkata and several others all over the country)
That was a million dollar question Shail. The government runs on that money now. Will they ever dare abolishing it? I don't think so. Heavier post it was. Thanks. -rgs
Dear Shail What an apt poem at the right time.. 100s of them are dieing at present, it is really sad. In some of the south Indian places the government has banned this. But still not fully demolished. I pity these poor people.
Hi Srini, Thanks. I am glad you liked the poem. I felt really bad and like always poetry is the only way I can give vent to my desperation. Shail
Dear Aruna, Yes, it really is a sad plight. What to do when the government does nothing and exploits the miserable condition of the poor? Thanks for sharing. Shail
