Im 30 yrs old and ttc..Recently i've been diagnosed with hypothyroidm and im on medication with no periods for nearly two months(Im not even pregnant). Just today i took a general blood test and came to know that my uric acid is high..

Does mediaction for hypothyroidism cause this? I also have been taking supplemnts like vitamins, folic, cod liver oil along with thyroxine.. I have only a very few glasses of water only around 3-4 (big glasses).I have started taking more just from today..

Will High uric be cured if we take more water and with exercises.. Since i already have hypothyroid i reduced my intake of cauliflower, spinach, soy etc.
completetly avoided cabbage, radish etc as i heard they distrb the thyroid .. I dont take meat and eggs. :confused2::confused2: of what to eat now.

Does anyone have a diet which suits both hypothyroid and high uric? Recently i started taking lime water as i cannot take just plain water.. Does that cause any increase in my uric acid level?

Im planning to meet my gyna next week for the menstrual problems.
Meanwhile if someone has faced similar problems or if anyone has some idea /heard of any cure pls post it..I met my general doc and came to know abt the high uric acid level in my blood.. Should i meet some specialist?

    Dear Jaaisu,

don't loose heart, take one step at a time and things would fall into perspective, I am not sure about High Uric but pretty much conversant about Hypothyroid.

First thing first look at changing ur lifestyle, basic rule would be to eat every 2 hours, plan your meals ahead and make sure u eat every 2 hours and finish dinner atleast 2 hours before hitting bed. this helps immensely in addressing side affects of thyroid

Start doing some kind of workouts if you are not doing so already, anything which you enjoy - dance, tennis etc.,.

try on Barly water this must help you (but pls consult doc coz I am not sure its impacts on somebody who has high uric)

trust me you do not have too many health problems..thyroid and uric acid are simple issues that can be treated with proper diet and medicines..do not think you have health issues..

is the cod liver oil prescribed by the doctors. sometimes things that may not suit us can also cause uric acid..things that are more purine..do not try to use supplements without the prescription from your doctor if you have health conditions. sometimes, things turn for the wrong.I think cod is to avoided in case of uric acid.. take me for example, i was and am on a weight loss goal with health issues, and have lots of food restrictions and vegetables to be avoided list is longer than the one that i can eat list..so i supplemented with more proteins(natural) and less carbs..in turn i ended up increasing my uric acid..

avoid cabbage, cauliflower, radish, beans,soy,spinach..have more corn, horsegram,badam..take lot of water. if you would like you can have barley water..you get roasted barley powder in nilgiris and super markets..you can boil 2 litres of water with 1 tblsp of powder..and have the same..if you cannot drink plain water, add a few carrom(omum) leaves/seeds..or spike it with jeera seeds..boil and drink. you can have your lime water too..

Apart from this flax seed is known to help in uric acid.

lime juice does not increase uric acid, but it is actually beneficial but again you do get contradictory info..your doctor is the best person to tell you what would help you.

lot of exercise, good sleep, less stress help a lot. a good diet also helps. apart from this thinking positive. We are far better than lot of other people who have serious issues.Maybe you should ask your gp or gynaec to recommend a diet chart or a nutritionist who can guide you.

Cheer up, you can reduce your uric acid and conquer thyroid.
