    Hi Friends,
I have a 3 years daughter who born in 2nd Dec 2008 in US. Right now we are in Noida, India and planning to move to Chennai by this month end. I am looking for residence and school in and around Sholinganalur. Regarding my DD's school admission, I have some doubts which need ed to clear. Here they are -

    1) She born on Dec 2008. Is she eligible for LKG admission? I have seen in some schools the children should be 3.5 years old by 1st June 2012 for LKG admission. If so, she is lacking of 1 day. In this case, is she get admitted in LKG?
Also personally me and my DH feels that it will be a challenge for her to compete with other kids if she goes to LKG. Since she will be one of the youngest student in her class, if she joins in LKG. Also she didnt went to any proper school this year, also she never learn from me if I teach her. so she doesnt know much of alphabets, numerals, shapes and colors now. So that we thought that if she goes to Pre-K she can learn everything slowly and steadily. This is our opinion only... But in some schools they have a cut-off date for Pre-KG is born on or after 01-04-2009, in that case I dont know whether they admit my DD in Pre-K.
If I admit her in Pre-K this year means, is she will be over age (4.5 years by June 2013) for LKG admission for next year?

    2) Which board is best, Matric or CBSE? As I am from a State board, I dont have any idea about these syllabus and the way of teaching and etc., The both boards have same number of subjects?

3)Is there any difference in the admission for the kids who born in India and not in India?

Friends, please help me to solve my queries, this is bugging me for a long time:bonk. Need all your opinions and suggestions...

    Thanks in advance...:)

welcome to school forum dhanasathesh. regarding the location, i assume you are looking at something closer to your work place.
you can talk to the school that has pre-kg and ask for admission into prekg. my son was 4+ when he went to lkg. it was my choice. and he is janborn.and he did not complete 3.6 in that year. again it is the choice of the parent. there are kids who are in lkg at 3. the only point that blares laters is your daughter will be one of the eldest in the class in lkg..
admit her in a school that has continuity..pre-kge to lkg promotion or else this age will become a problem to get her admitted in another school.

    2) Which board is best, Matric or CBSE? As I am from a State board, I dont have any idea about these syllabus and the way of teaching and etc., The both boards have same number of subjects?
we have discussed this many times in number of threads here. use the search function and raise the query cbse or matric..you will land in those discussion. cbse has 5 integrated subjects..science,evs,english, maths and second language..while matric initially also has the same number of subjects later sciences get split into 3 and so does social..the way of teaching differs in both.
3)Is there any difference in the admission for the kids who born in India and not in India?
depends on the school you are seeking admission. though there has not been lot of noise about special donations, but heard there are a few that accept.
All of us as parents go through these.. and sometimes, we are also put on the roller coaster for losing 1 year (according to few of them) but at the end of the day go with what your gut feeling says.

Check out psbb millenium, at i am sure you can get admission.

    DhanaSathesh,

I also sailed in the same boat 2 years back.Which school are you aiming around sholinganallur? Some schools have a different cut off date even for CBSE .

My daughter was born on dec that too on end of december.I applied for 2 schools in my area, one said she would be eligible for lkg before dec 10th,the one admitted her for lkg as she was 3 years 5 months at the time of june 1st.

My daughter didn't go to any playschool or pre school when i admitted her in lkg,she will learn when they are in school.Don't worry about that factor.

Just prepare her for the interview for timebeing.Slowly they will learn .My daughter is also US Born, but I didn't pay any donation.Depends on the school which you are applying, as Shanvy said.
