    Hi all,
I am Lakshmi currently located in Chennai.
We are planning to move to Singapore for next academic year. My son has to get admission in KG2 then. I have one query. In which grade do GIIS or DPS start writing? My son is going to LKG here and they are not making him write in school In case in Singapore they start writing before KG2 then I will have to train him at home before joinining him any school there. Can anyone throw some light on this. It will be very helpful. Appreciate much.
    Thankyou.

    Lakshmi.

    Hi Lakshmi,

First of all Welcome to Singapore :)

I am unsure about starting to write in GIIS and DPS, but in general the local and private kindergartens start writing practice from nursery onwards. It is simple alphabets and numbers and no cursive writing. From K1 onwards they start writing simple sentences. If your child is starting K1 or K2, it might be a good idea to give a little practice at home. I am sure he recognises alphabets, numbers, and short sight words by now. So, don't worry overtly about writing dear, it will come naturally to him. Children are very smart and they pick up things faster than we think they do :) so don't worry too much. I hope moms with kids in GIIS and DPS will shed some omore some light on this.

Thanks Akhila for your response. Still I didn't get any response from moms of DPS opr GIIS going kids. One more query Akila, hope you will be able to help me. If we put our son in DPS which area should we look for apartment? Will we get decent two bedroom apartment for 2.5 K rent?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Lakshmi,

If you are looking for a house that is within the walking distance of the school, then check this out. I think the area is Haugang and near upper serangoon road and yes you can get a decent 2 bedroom house for 2.5 k around that area and in many other areas as well. But even if you are considering any other area also, DPS has trasportation available.

    Hope this helps dear :)

    Dear Ladies from near DPS,
it would be of great help if you could throw some light on this as well as give some review about the school. Appreciate all your efforts and help :)

    Hi Akila,
Thanks much for the prompt response. It was definitely helpful. Anyway i'll keep posting some query or the other again. We have just started doing our research on Singapore. There is noone whom we know in Singapore other than my husband's to-be boss. Hope I can count on you for guidance on settling down there. Thanks again :)

    Hi Ramya,

Just curious to know. Why did you change him from DPS. Do you find the local schools to be better? If you can share why..
