    It takes too long to load a thread from India? Why does it happen ?

    Hi I moved from US to India and realized that it takes too long to open a thread from India. I understand the difference in speed and many other variables are factors to be considered.

    I am using the same computer. My download speed on att speedtest used to show 2 Mbps in US from my home. My download speed on the same att speedtest is showing 9 Mbps appro! :confused2: I am using firefox browser. If speed is more in India(so it seems!)
    why thread takes more time to load!

    The forums open fast but as soon as I click on a thread my computer hangs!

    I am just sharig my experience and not complaining. Just want to understand why it happens.

    Hello Nitya

    At present even I am in India and my download speed is 2 mbps and I did not face any such problems here. Threads opens very fast.
    Clear all your browsing data and history then it may increase your download speed.

    Request -- Please help if possible

    This is not a complaint, I am just seeking help.

    I have been a contributing member at IL for around 3 years now. I am facing a number of new problems now to which I wish to draw your attention and get help if possible.

    1. I have uploaded a new avatar from my computer and I followed all instructions correctly. However, the avatar doesn't show on my page when I open IL. It doesn't show even if I am logged in. However, it appears to me that others are able to view it when they are logged in. For, Cheeniya asked me where I had found the avatar.

    2. I have chosen a signature for my page. Once again, I followed instructions correctly. But my posts don't show the signature when I log in. I am not sure if others can view it.

    3. When I post photographs using the attachment management tool, they come out as links. I cannot view the pictures myself, unless I am on the edit mode. I do not know whether others can view them.

    There are a few other problems too. However, I shall be most grateful if the IL authorities could find a solution to these problems for the time being. I have personally approached a few senior members associated with the management and they have told me that they will try to help.

    I am sure that people who work for IL do so on a voluntary basis and it may be difficult for them to find the time to look into these issues. It might take a while for things to be resolved. But I am putting up the difficulties as a post, hoping that other members might be able to offer solutions. I tried to send this as a request to IndusLadies using the link provided in the FAQ section. But there was no window there where I could post this.

    I shall be grateful to the authorities for any help they might be able to provide. In case the matter cannot be resolved, can you please keep me informed so that I can plan my posts differently from the way I normally do?

    Hi, have you tried using a different browser? That is, if you are using IE, try switching to Firefox and see if there is a difference..If you are already using Firefox, try the same with IE or Google chrome, just to rule out any browser specific issues..

    I can see your 'Avatar' (the pic displayed with your posts, the Mask), but not a 'Profile Pic' on your home page.
    I might be wrong here, but do we need to upload it twice, once the pic one wants to use for the profile pic - that shows in your home-page top left corner, and once for the avatar (that shows up as the pic with each of your posts)?

    I see your avatar, but not a 'profile pic' on your homepage, am I reading your problem correctly?

    Dear Devapriya:

    I tried with Firefox. Same problem.

    I observe something even more interesting now. I CAN SEE BOTH THE AVATAR AND THE SIGNATURE ON IE, WHEN I AM NOT LOGGED IN. AS SOON AS I LOG IN, BOTH DISAPPEAR.

    CAN YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO CONTACT ADMIN OR LAXMI? WILL BE MOST GRATEFUL.
