    Hi Friends,

For my 1st pregnancy I never took Saffron. But for this time around I am planning to take. But I have minimal knowledge about it or how to take it coz none in our family have eaten saffron when pregnant.

I am 9 weeks pregnant right now, please let me know

    1. When or which month should I start taking Saffron ?
    2. What should be the quantity ?
    3. Should it be dissolved in milk or water ?
    4. Should it be taken until delivery once started ?

    Thanks,
    Mellow

    Hey Mellow,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy.....:cheers
Saffron during pregnancy is beneficial but since it is heaty..you need to avoid it until 6months...

    1. When or which month should I start taking Saffron ?
    A. Start from 7th Month onwards to be on safer side..(this is what my grandmother suggested)
    2. What should be the quantity ?
    A. 2-3 strands maximum in a day
    3. Should it be dissolved in milk or water ?
    A. Heat little water and dissolved saffron strands in it...and then add to milk
    4. Should it be taken until delivery once started ?
    A. I have no idea but will continue till end.

Right now I am on 8th month and I started having it since my 7th month start...I think we can continue until delivery...Saffron has medicinal benefits that's why it is advised during pregnancy....

well even I started from 5th month. I was asked to take it only on the day I take headbath. before going for headbath I used to soak saffron in warm milk and after headbath I used to squeeze those saffrons and drink that milk. I followed it till I delivered. I was told the baby will be fair if I follow this and luckily my kid is fair.
I am not sure where we get good quality saffron in india. if u guyz have some relatives in USA/Dubai etc u can ask them to send it, because I feel the quality is definetly better abroad.

Well, I started taking it sometime after my first trimester. As others said, I let a few strands soak in warm milk and consumed it. It is great for blood circulation! Not sure about the whole 'fair baby' hype :)
