    Rakhii,

    I m a new mother (LO is 10 months now) + I teach + I am completing my PhD.
Yeah, we are relaxed unlike a accelerated MBA. And you can definitely try, but in my experience, it can leave you totally exhausted, physically and mentally, unsatisfied and laden with guilty on both fronts, as a mother and as a student.

Make your husband read about the rigor needed from a new mother and a MBA student.
He has no clue about both it seems..

    Dear rakhii

theoritically..it can be a very good idea. coming to practical my personal opinion is a BIG NOOO
You want to be a full time mom to u r kid not part time.
In first few months after the delivery you need to adjust your schedule as per ur kid and simultaneously take care of your health which is very imp. Then each month you observe the changes in LO and you need to act accordingly.
so it may be bit difficult to manage things even though you have options to take care of the baby.
If possible, it could be nice to postpone your idea.
take care and njoy ur pregnancy by not thinking toooo much abt your career now.Once ur kid is bit grownup then u can plan.

Kirukiri and Amul, thanks for your suggestions. I have decided not to do it. DH still thinks I can do it. However I told him that we will see how it goes after the baby is here. But I know its not possible, considering so many of you ladies have gone through this (both MBA and a baby).

MBA and a newborn?? Good luck with that :p :p :p

You won't do justice to either. I think you should enjoy your pregnancy and motherhood if that is what you are planning and think about studies when you have sorted out your future plans.

    Rakhii,
MBA/CFA and an infant will be hard to manage I feel.
How about being 1 year full time with your LO and then starting the MBA/CFA? This way you will also have some added advantage when you are ready to work again. You can even do the MBA as a aprt time option , so as your LO grows you will also be gearing up toward graduation and by the end of the program, you will be ready for a great job and also ready to put LO in school/day-care.

    JMO. Good Luck.

    Rakhi,
Contrary to what many people exclaim, its not impossible to do studies as well as manage pregnancy/newborn at the same time. But you need family support as well experience. By family support I mean, you would need husband / parents to help you a lot during the 8th/9th month as well first 3-4 months after delivery..But even with family support, there is experience that is more crucial.. By experience I mean, it would have been easier if you were already studying and you got pregnant.. Because, then you would already have an idea about how to handle coursework etc.. However, now if you want to START coursework, then its a bad idea as you have 2 unknown/unexpected/inexperienced areas to tackle same time..
I have seen many women manage MS/MBA/PHD etc along with pregnancies as well newborns.. hence I just wanted to let you know that it is possible.. But even in these people's cases, either the mom was already in a course and was herself keen to finish the course.. in your case, since you have to start all of a sudden + more importantly since you are keen to be with baby fulltime, its better you make that very clear to your husband too..
as someone mentioned, in loving and understanding words :)
If he still insists, tell him you can do some online MBA course from next Fall (August).. That way, your baby would be 6 months old by then, and you can have flexibility to study/work from home...

@Rakhii.. i have no idea about MBA and studying etc together with money... but from what i heard from my mother and my sister (who delivered a boy in Jan 2011) that its nearly impossible to leave the baby... as its always cute to watch a baby grow ...

my sister joined work when the baby completed six months... she is in the noon shift... and will be back home by 9-10 max... but still she calls home (baby with her inlaws at home) every now and then to ask abt the baby... the way he plays... does his antics... his "chatter" is really making her feel not to leave that tiny tot at home (the kid doesnt brawl the whole day and all that anyway... he didnt even cry much when his ears were pierced or when he was given his injections!! :bonk)...

i just pray and hope our baby will be the same so i can continue my work (work from home as regular) 3-4 months after delivery!!

All the best to you :thumbsup... enjoy the time with ur kid... first 2-3 years until school starts are the precious years mother/parents get with the child... then school, studies, extra activities, play, tv, games... takes most of the time!!

realistically, u wont have time for yourself, let alone your masters prog, i would say take it easy for the first yr, thats the time the baby is the most dependant on you, u can keep the masters for the coming years. :)
a lot of time, energy and patience goes in taking care of itty bitties.u would know it soon, i wish u all the best
