    Dear Priya,

Usually carbs are associated with causing water retention. Like a loaded plate of carb meal will make you feel bloated.

Agreed that injection will cause weight gain but why eat high calorie food and let the weight increase.

    1. As far as I understand you are on a light diet. Talk to your doctor about eating daliya and khichadi.

You can make khichadi with 1 fist rice and lots of lentil, add in veggies like carrot beans etc and make a runny khichadi. You can do the same thing with daliya. This will give you proper amount of carbs and protein and will fill your stomach too.

    2. Agreed that the weight will increase but if you are following a strict low cal diet then???? Give it a try. Just eat low cal diet for a week and see the weight. Ask your doctor if you can have soups. Include soups in your diet. So if you are having 1 bowl of khichadi, you can accompany it with a bowl of soup to feel full.

    3. Eat small and eat every 2 to 3 hours. This way you will decrease your appetite.

4.If possible find a dietitian and ask her to give you a diet which can take care of water retention.

    5. Get a clearing on what you can eat and what you have to avoid. Weight gain in any scenario is not good or healthy. So look at the bright side of your condition. You have a chance to eat less cal food and be very strict with yourself. You just had a surgery and hence I am sure outside heavy food is out of question. This is the perfect time to break the habit of high calorie food.

Remember, the gain in weight will happen if there is some extra amount of calorie intake.

For example if your body spends 2000 calories to maintain your current weight. If you eat 2500 calories everyday your body will store 500 calories extra everyday and hence the gain in weight. If you eat 2000 calories then the gain in weight won't happen.

Have a nice discussion with doctor/dietitian. They will let you know how much calories you require right now.

Priya that 1 kgs gain in weight that has happened is due to water retention but if you eat healthy and low cal believe me you won't add on weight. Its just not possible to put on 10 kgs weigth only by water retention. Water retention leads to weight gain but only 1 or 2 kgs not more than that.

This is your time to eat the less spicy, less oily food and detox yourself and emerge from this with a glowing and shinning skin.

    Have a great day ahead.

    Lots of love to you.

    regards

    Dear Meera,

Awesome work my girl. Look at you, you are doing so well. The very first step to weight loss success is to bring in the lifestyle changes and I am glad my friend that you made them.

This goes to show that the options are around us, all we have to do is give them a try. Good girl Meera, I am so proud of you.

One quick tip. Sometimes, give hot water a try. if you don't like sipping hot water, get in herbal teas (like jasmine, chamomile flower, vanila, rose etc. I don't like green tea so I just avoid it but I like drinking flower extract teas). Just put a tea bag in hot water and sip away.

Hot water helps in weight loss and also you will get that relaxation kick while working :).

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL AND ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Its not funny at all. I have walked in trains and also on airports. Even while waiting for something I just starts walking to and fro. This only shows your level of commitment. Keep it up Meera.

You are doing very very good, please keep it up.

    Have a great day ahead.

    regards

    Hi Shiva,:hiya

Hope you are at your best.

I spend the weekend successfully without eating out. Believe me, it’s a Herculean task (us, as my hubby also is part of the operation – wht loss). Weekend is never complete without outside food. :spin

Yesterday, My daughter had a b’day party to attend at Mc D. My DH went and dropped her off and aftr the party, we went to pick her up. As I went to introduce myself to her friend’s Mom, She thrust a huge piece of CCAAAKE in my hand. Oh God!and you know what I carried it in my hand without even tasting it all the way back home. Can u believe it!!I did it…:thumbsup:cheers

I have also found innovative or funny:hide: ways of working out

I do the usual 20 Min of Orbitrrk and also started with some hands Exercise

For the Abs crunch, I know longer shout at my daughter at throwing her things around, instead I do the picking up, giving me real abs crunch….he he he…and what more, I ve become an angel, as I know longer ‘punish’her by making her pick it up.:bowdown

My daughter School bus fortunately doesn’t com on a set time, so we always go down the stairs and wait…Now..I don’t wait standing still, Instead, I go up and down the stairs until her bus comes..it gives me atleast 5 to 10 min workout. I repeat the same in the aftrn…her bus comes at around 11.45 to 11.55 (never on time)So strt the stairs exercise at around 11.35 until the BUS comes.:idea

Today, I had Oats and fruits as usual
Lunch – I had dal rasam, Mushroom-capsicum-sprouts sabji, cucumber and then I couldn’t eat the ROTI- I just ate a small one.

Another bad habit, I have is eat some sweet after food…I conquered this also by having a Dates or 2to 3 pieces of sweet saunf. I don’t eat it of at one go. Just keep it in my mouth and have it on there till my urge to eat is down.:idea

    • Shiva, whats your opinion about the fruit yogurts. I love them.
    • I use milk powder (not fresh milk in tea and oats)(REglait)it is 0% fat.

My husband is also now religiously following the diet along with me, which is a great support to me. Thanks to u again. And the greatest thing is, we are enjoying it. A healthy life style has become part our life now. And all this in a short period of 1 week!! Amazing na!

The best part is, my daughter is also following the salad, soup, roti sabji (except that her rotis have ghee in them)routine. I am so glad I am able to introduce it to her at an early age. As against us who are taught to eat well (QUANTITY) and not eat well(QUALITY). I am happy I am not like mother who fed me infact overfed me in the name of he growing up…and of course , we grew but only in breadth and width !!! If I stop with 3 IDLIS , mama would say eat two more coz ur a growing girl…little did she realize that her little one is turning in to a BIG little one. I have always been oversized for my age and I had taken it for granted. All this and coupled with the constant overhearing of the fact that I am after my grand ma, who is FAT and that its in my genes. It was only after seeing you a ray of hope or I would say A RAINBOW of hope is shining on me….:bowdown

Thanks shiva for being my rainbow of hope. Tomorrow is the end of my seventh day. Will keep u posted.

If U did it, I can too !

    Thanks a lot Shiva! :)
I'll try the herbal teas too, sounds good.

NRIIndian: I love your ideas, I'll try the stairs too... I've been making the same changes :-D
WOW, you had the will power to not eat cake all that time :clap

I think the same is happening to me too... I think of eating something bad, and then I remember its not worth it. I just don't feel like it. I actually even imagine what it tastes like in my mouth, and that makes me think... "Hmmm... it doesn't even taste as good as I imagined it would... I won't screw my diet plan for this treat..." :biglaugh

Hasna, Thanks gal! Yeah, I used to nibble something too, now I just quickly do some squats or pushups or something. I also just start walking when I'm talking to someone on the phone. My DH is like "WTH is wrong with you...?!"
He is all puzzled about what I am doing :rotfl
