    I am a new comer to this forum. I am verymuch interested in tailoring. I need baby frocks measurements & drafts,sewing methods. Anybody can help me? Thank you all in advance.

    Fancy dress costume Sherlock Holmes & Luke Skywalker

    Two outfits that i made for my boys for world book day in March 2010
    It took me 1 week to make the Sherlock holmes outfit including the deerstalker hat and one afternoon for Luke Skywalker's costume.

    take the measurement as such :-
    Shoulder (from one slop of sh to another)
    waist round (hollow of waist where u tie the petticoat)
    hip round (widest part of hip)
    arm hole (that u know)
    neck length (desired length of neck line)
    waist length (nape to waist )
    frock length (total waist length)

    your frock will be in 3 parts - 1.shoulder strap length 2.bodice length 3.skirt length

    then, take the measuring tape and keeping two fingers inside measure all parts as above. U may also measure or observe any frock of yr daughter for accuracy to begin with.

    see,though it is a difficult design but nothing is impossible. I suggest u buy a not so slippery cloth initially and take some sturdy cloth, may be some fine cotton in nice colors and contrastig prints.Just a suggestion.

    Now take 4 folds of drafting paper or (newspaper) and mark as per measurement.

    Just now I found(saw) a very beautifully drafted reversible frock on IL.just find that and mark the draft according to the back part of that draft.

    Now, for the skirt, u may check out drafting for a flared or umbrella skirt.
